PM-9 is a student-grade polarizing microscope developed for academic and training laboratories. It is built with a limb-type inclined body and a binocular viewing system to support comfortable observation during routine practical work. The microscope is equipped with a complete polarizing optical setup including a graduated polarizer, sliding analyzer, compensators, and a smooth 360° rotatable stage. Its mechanical stability, accurate angular control, and reliable optics make it suitable for mineral, crystal, and basic material analysis in educational environments.

The PM-9 operates on the principle of polarized light microscopy. Light from the reflector or optional LED source passes through the graduated polarizer to produce plane-polarized light. When this light interacts with anisotropic specimens such as minerals or crystals, it undergoes birefringence. The emerging light is analyzed through the sliding analyzer and compensators. By rotating the circular stage and observing changes in brightness and interference colors, optical properties of the specimen can be studied accurately.
